Bring clarity to complex processes

As a project manager, I make my living designing processes and delivering results that are dependent on others believing in it and buying into it. I attended the course because I was curious if nudging and visual communication were the processes and tools that could help me achieve my results. Both Mettelene Jellinggaard and Marie Rohrsted have a lot of experience using nudging and visual communication in everyday life, and this rubbed off on the course. Not only did I get the theory behind the tools and processes and insight into how I can use nudging and visual communication in my everyday life, I also got to try it out on the course. We had Marie in for an online presentation on graphic facilitation and with her pedagogical and skilful graphic skills, she managed to teach all the participants to draw and understand the meaning and importance of illustrations when you need to get your message across and make sure the recipient understands it. Even though it was online, with her very professional setup, she managed to make everyone feel like they were drawing with her. It was great to gain knowledge and insight into a field that you don't deal with on a daily basis, but which, thanks to Marie, you were inspired to try out in your work processes.

The best, fun and really educational day in good company I absolutely cannot draw or write legibly - and that's just the way it is! - I thought. After just one day with Marie from Talkingstrokes, I learnt simple techniques that allow me to spice up my work environment presentations with simple homemade posters and neater handwriting on the flipchart. There's still a long way to go before I have a solid line - but the first (and perhaps most difficult) step has been taken. Now I DARE to do it! So if you're facilitating meetings or giving presentations and training - and are still only comfortable using PowerPoint, get in touch with Marie and get the courage to give your work more edge and make it more interesting for others.

We met a huge group of futurists at Margård and Marie willingly volunteered for something as abstract as visualising future dreams, trends and possibilities. Marie is trustworthy and extremely accommodating. Many visualisation experts make "nice minutes", but Marie brings so much more to the process - a deeper understanding, presence and a lift that the participants would otherwise not be able to see themselves. Marie's coaching programme has strengthened my business and developed me far more than I imagined and thought possible. I have no - absolutely no - experience in drawing or graphic facilitation, so the starting point was low. But boy have I learnt a lot of great drawing techniques. It works great for capturing my meeting participants. In a world full of technology, online meetings and long hours behind screens, it's really cool to work tactilely and creatively. Marie is a great teacher and she gets my highest recommendations. Through simple drawing techniques, presence and fun challenges, she provides a good introduction to graphic facilitation. I was previously responsible for integrations with Microsoft's Dynamics CRM system, where we had issues with data transfer from Navision. A task that had been teasing us for a long time. When I got on the job, I could see that the nature of the task could quickly develop into a major project if we did nothing. Marie came in as project manager. I'll never forget our first project meeting, where Marie called the right people into the meeting, both decision-makers and technicians, so everyone was familiar with the task. I have never experienced such a meeting before, Marie was incredibly prepared and had drawn the entire process so that everyone could see it visually, and at the same time she had also drawn the project plan etc. When the meeting was over, everyone agreed on the next step, had a detailed and visual understanding of the task, and we moved forward quickly and efficiently.

When Tønder Municipality's new municipal council had to formulate visions and strategies for the election period at a 24-hour seminar, we chose to document the seminar visually. We did this because we know that the visual supports the spoken and written word. Over the course of an entire day, Marie visualised the points made by the politicians on 8 large posters. After the seminar, we added photos of the posters to the vision and strategy plan that came out of the seminar. This kind of visualisation gives the politicians a sense of recognition of the process they have been involved in. This, we believe, increases ownership. We also use the posters when we communicate our vision and strategy plan internally in the organisation.

Drawing is fun and anyone can do it. You just need to learn some simple basic strokes and then play with your own expression. I draw as a reflection and then add words to draw readers in with a drawing that has a twinkle in its eye. After a few hours in Marie's company, I've refreshed the basics and learnt some new tricks.

One day in Marie's world and everyone - as in EVERYONE - can deliver their messages in simple drawings. You get pen to paper after 5 minutes, good and easy advice, energising coaching, shared AHA experiences and lots of praise. You will strengthen your ability to: boil long explanations down to a few images that are easy to decode, illustrate difficult concepts through association, trigger more thoughts towards the recipients, e.g. during a retrospective. Since the first course, I have plunged deeper into Marie's world. 1-1 courses in "hair and faces", ongoing sparring about messages and facilitation, markers, drawing tips and much more. Graphic facilitation is therefore not just another course in the series of competence boosts. It is an ongoing development of specialised skills in your communication. Highest recommendations. Marie facilitated a workshop for our team where, based on E-stimate profiles, we focused on the team's differences and how we can utilise them in our daily collaboration. Marie guided us through the theory and lots of practical exercises in an inspiring way so that we felt comfortable and could have an open and constructive dialogue.

I've just been on a course in graphic facilitation with Marie - and had my very own little party. It's so crazy - afterwards - to look at the significant development that has happened from page 1 to page 17 (as many A4 sheets as I managed to draw over). Marie is an incredibly skilful communicator and teacher. So you might think you can't draw. But you'll get rid of that belief once you've been on a course with Marie

Marie is really good - first I did a 1:1 session with her where she taught me a lot of tips and tricks. Then we took it further and made great videos so that the rest of the organisation across the country could benefit from her knowledge and skills.
